ChillFive is operated by its publisher, who acts as the data controller under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés).

2. What information we collect

When you create an account

We only ask for the information needed to provide your account:

• Email address
• Password

Your password is stored securely in hashed form and is never stored as plain text.

Your email address is used to create and identify your account, confirm your email address, help you reset your password, send important account-related messages, and associate your puzzle progress with your account.

We do not ask for your name, postal address, telephone number, or payment information.

Your puzzle progress

When you use ChillFive while logged in, we store your progress and results for the five daily puzzles associated with your account.

This allows you to keep your progress over time, return to previous days, continue puzzles on another device, and see which puzzles you have completed.

Your account and associated puzzle progress remain stored while your account is active.

You can delete your account at any time. When you delete your account, your account and associated puzzle progress are permanently deleted.

3. Playing without an account

You can play ChillFive without creating an account.

When you are not logged in, your puzzle progress may be stored in a cookie on your device so that you can continue playing later.

This cookie is used only to provide the puzzle functionality and is not used for advertising or analytics.

If you create an account later, your progress can be associated with your account where supported by the service.

4. Cookies

Necessary cookies

We use a session cookie to maintain your session and, when you are logged in, to keep you authenticated while you use the website.

These cookies are necessary for the service to function and do not require consent where they are strictly necessary for the service requested by the user.

We may also use a cookie to store puzzle progress when you use ChillFive without an account.

Our hosting infrastructure is provided by OVHcloud, which acts as a data processor when hosting personal data on our behalf.

Google Analytics is provided by Google and is used only when you have given the required consent.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

9. International transfers

Some services used by ChillFive, such as Google Analytics, may involve processing of information by providers operating internationally.

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, appropriate safeguards required by applicable data protection laws are used.

10. How long we keep your information

Your account information and associated puzzle progress are kept while your account remains active.

You can delete your account at any time. When your account is deleted, your account information and associated puzzle progress are permanently deleted, except where we are legally required to retain specific information for a longer period.

Information relating to optional consents may be retained where necessary to demonstrate that consent was obtained or withdrawn.
